Historical Lineage of Bankura Terracotta Sacred Panchmura Horse

The Bankura Horse is one of the most recognizable cultural symbols of Indian folk pottery. Made in Panchmura village from alluvial silt from local riverbeds, the neck, ears, and body parts are turned separately on potter's wheels, assembled while moist, decorated with hand-pinched clay beads, and kiln-fired to a rich terracotta red.

Preserving Endangered Living Arts

When you acquire this handcrafted artifact, you actively support indigenous artisan cooperatives, preventing age-old master techniques from disappearing in the era of mass industrial manufacturing.
